About Iceberg Web Design

Iceberg Web Design is a full-service web design and digital marketing agency based in Anoka, Minnesota. Founded in 2005, we specialize in custom WordPress website design and development, SEO, content writing, e-commerce, hosting and maintenance, reputation management, ad management, and AI search optimization. We are known for responsive customer service and our registered trademark: Website Developers Who Answer the Phone.

Iceberg Web Design has been in business since 2005 — over 20 years. We were founded by Jessi Gurr, a self-taught developer who started coding websites in middle school. We launched as Iceberg Hosting in Morris, Minnesota, relocated to Anoka in 2009, and have grown into a full-service web and digital marketing agency serving hundreds of businesses across the country.

Our main office is at 203 Jackson Street, Suite 202a, Anoka, MN 55303. We also have a sales office at 80 South 8th Street, Suite 900, Minneapolis, MN 55402, and satellite presence in St. Paul, Chicago, and Toronto. Our team works in a hybrid environment with specialists across four continents. Our hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm Central.

We work with a diverse range of businesses across many industries including construction, home services, healthcare, food and beverage, nonprofits, retail, e-commerce, professional services, and more. Whether you are a small local business or a growing regional company, our team has the experience to build a website and marketing strategy that fits your goals.

The biggest differentiator is our commitment to responsive customer service. Our registered trademark, Website Developers Who Answer the Phone, reflects how we operate every day. When you call, a real person who knows your project picks up. Beyond that, we offer a full in-house team of designers, developers, content writers, SEO specialists, and marketing experts — all working together under one roof. Many clients stay with us for years or even decades because of this combination of quality work and genuine care.

Our process has six stages: (1) Discovery — we learn about your business and define the best solution; (2) Onboarding — a kick-off meeting with your dedicated project team; (3) Content Development — we write and strategize your website content; (4) Design and Development — your site is built and tested; (5) Launch — we bring your site live Monday through Thursday during business hours; and (6) Support and Maintenance — ongoing care, updates, and marketing to keep your site performing long after launch.

Website Design & Development

Yes. We offer fully custom WordPress website development built around your specific goals, audience, and functionality requirements. Custom websites include a full design process with mockups and a style guide, and are ideal for businesses that need custom features such as complex forms, membership portals, advanced search and filtering, API integrations, or career application systems. Development cost is paid upfront, with ongoing monthly hosting and maintenance.

A semi-custom marketing site is a professional website built on a proven framework, customized to match your branding. It is offered as an all-inclusive monthly service with no large upfront development cost other than content writing. It is ideal for small businesses that need a professional online presence quickly. Semi-custom sites can launch in as little as six weeks and include hosting, maintenance, and 15 minutes of updates each month.

Yes. We are WordPress and WooCommerce experts. Every website we build runs on WordPress, which gives clients flexibility, scalability, and full ownership of their site after launch. WordPress also supports strong SEO performance and integrates with hundreds of third-party tools and platforms.

We build a wide range of custom features including optimized sales funnels, online appointment booking systems, API integrations, career sections with online applications, membership and employee portals, project portfolios, filterable blog and news archives, sortable search and filtering, e-commerce integration, and location maps with detailed location information. If you can dream it, we can build it.

Timelines vary based on project scope. Semi-custom marketing sites can launch in as little as six weeks. Custom website projects take longer depending on the number of pages, custom features, and content development requirements. During discovery and onboarding, we establish a clear project timeline with defined milestones so you always know where your project stands.

Custom website clients have full access to and ownership of their website after launch. Semi-custom marketing site clients have access to edit products and certain content, but the site runs on our managed platform. We are always transparent about ownership and access during the proposal process so you can choose the path that fits your needs.

Yes. We regularly help business owners who started with a DIY website on Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress and found themselves in over their heads. We can assess your current site, identify what is holding it back, and recommend whether a targeted fix, a redesign, or a full migration to a properly built WordPress site is the right move.

E-Commerce Development

Yes. We have more than 15 years of experience in e-commerce website development using WooCommerce. We handle everything from product setup and payment processing to shipping logic, inventory management, subscriptions, and gift cards. We offer both fully custom e-commerce development and semi-custom e-commerce sites depending on your product complexity and budget.

We build complex product variations, subscription and membership models, advanced search and filtering, custom payment gateway integrations, shipping rule logic, inventory reconciliation with physical retail locations, gift card support, and access to paid digital content. We also write product and category content to support search visibility and conversions.

We work with a variety of payment gateways and processors depending on your business model and needs. During our discovery process, we help you evaluate the right payment solution for your e-commerce site — factoring in transaction rates, your product types, subscription needs, and how the processor integrates with your overall business operations. The right payment setup from the start prevents expensive surprises later.

Hosting & Maintenance

We offer two plans. Our Hosting and Maintenance plan includes monthly WordPress software updates, monthly form testing, quarterly full backups, one hour per month for updates and support, and monthly Google Analytics reports. Our Hosting and Support plan includes automatic WordPress updates, an SSL certificate, daily backups retained for seven days, quarterly software updates, and 15 minutes per month for minor updates and troubleshooting. All sites are hosted at the SAVVIS data center, one of the most secure in the world.

Websites require regular updates to stay secure, fast, and compatible with evolving technology. Outdated plugins, themes, and core software create security vulnerabilities and performance issues. Regular maintenance ensures your forms, integrations, and features continue working correctly. Think of it like an oil change for your car — skip it long enough, and you will pay far more to fix the damage than you would have spent on prevention.

Yes — that is the whole point. All customers with hosting or maintenance plans have access to our support team via phone and email. We have internal processes to ensure your request is handled quickly and by the right team member. From a simple content edit to troubleshooting a script conflict to implementing new software, our team is ready to help.

Content Writing

Yes. Professional content writing is one of our core services. We start with sitemap planning and an in-depth content interview to understand your ideal audience and how to communicate with them. Our writers craft clear, persuasive, SEO-optimized content for every page of your website including headlines, service descriptions, calls to action, title tags, and meta descriptions.

Yes. We offer monthly blog writing as part of our ongoing content services. Our writers research your industry and your customers’ questions, then produce optimized blog posts designed to increase search visibility, build authority, and give you shareable content for social media. Regular blog publishing is one of the most effective long-term strategies for both traditional SEO and AI search visibility.

Content consulting is for businesses with in-house marketing staff or owners who want to write their own website content but need structure and guidance. It includes sitemap planning, content templates, editorial review, formatting support, and properly structured title tags and meta descriptions. It is a great option if you want to stay involved in your content without going it completely alone.

SEO — Search Engine Optimization

Our SEO services include keyword research, on-page optimization, local SEO, website speed optimization, Google Analytics reporting, monthly content writing, reputation management, and technical SEO. We also integrate AIO and GEO strategies directly into our SEO process to ensure your website performs in AI-generated search results as well as traditional Google rankings.

Local SEO improves your visibility in searches tied to a specific geographic area — for example, “web design company near Anoka MN.” It involves optimizing your Google Business Profile, building consistent directory listings and citations, generating and managing customer reviews, and creating locally relevant website content. For service-based businesses, local SEO is often the highest-value digital marketing investment available.

Website speed is a confirmed Google ranking factor and a major contributor to user experience. Slow websites lead to higher bounce rates, fewer conversions, and lower search rankings. We improve performance through image optimization, caching strategies, and code refinement to ensure faster load times. A fast website improves both your SEO and the experience every visitor has on your site.

AIO & GEO — AI Search Optimization

AIO stands for Artificial Intelligence Optimization. It is the practice of structuring your website so AI platforms like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Claude can accurately understand, interpret, and recommend your business. This includes clear page structure, strong service descriptions, schema markup, and organized content that gives AI tools the clarity they need to reference your business in their generated answers.

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization. It focuses on helping your business appear in AI-generated answers and recommendations. When someone asks ChatGPT or another AI tool for a service recommendation — for example, “Who is the best web design company near Minneapolis?” — GEO ensures your website has the authority, content depth, and context for AI to include your business in its response.

AIO and GEO are not replacements for SEO — they are natural extensions of it. Strong SEO is still the foundation: clear site structure, quality content, fast load speeds, and strong authority signals. AIO and GEO build on that foundation to ensure your website is also visible and trusted by AI platforms. At Iceberg Web Design, AIO and GEO are built directly into our SEO process — not sold as a separate product.

It depends on the strength of your website’s content, authority, and technical structure. Websites with multiple well-organized service pages, ongoing blog content, schema markup, and strong local SEO signals are far more likely to be referenced by AI tools. Single-page or thin websites are rarely cited. Iceberg Web Design builds AI-ready websites and can optimize existing sites to improve visibility in both traditional and AI search experiences.

It is very unlikely. Single-page websites lack the content depth, page structure, and authority signals that AI tools rely on when generating recommendations. AI systems favor multi-page websites with dedicated service pages, location information, team details, and ongoing blog content. If your business relies on a one-page site, you are likely invisible in both traditional SEO and AI search — and that means missed leads every day.

Schema markup is structured data added to your website’s code that helps search engines and AI tools understand your content more accurately. It labels your business name, services, location, reviews, FAQs, and more in a machine-readable format. Schema markup is one of the key technical signals that supports both traditional SEO rankings and AI search visibility — helping Google and AI platforms correctly interpret and trust your site.

Like traditional SEO, AIO and GEO results take time to build. Most businesses begin seeing measurable improvements in search visibility within three to six months of consistent optimization. AI visibility grows alongside traditional search authority — as your website gains credibility and content depth, both Google rankings and AI recommendations improve. We focus on building long-term digital assets, not short-term tricks that fade.

Ad Management

Yes. Our certified Google Ads team creates and manages targeted pay-per-click campaigns on Google Search and Display networks. We handle keyword research, ad copy, audience targeting, bid management, and performance reporting. Google Ads is an effective way to generate leads quickly while your long-term organic SEO strategy builds momentum. Our staff holds current Google Ads certifications.

Yes. We develop and manage paid advertising campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Social media ads are effective for building brand awareness, retargeting website visitors, and reaching new audiences. We pair social advertising with landing page strategy and conversion tracking to maximize your return on ad spend.

For many businesses, running ads alongside SEO is a smart strategy. SEO builds lasting organic visibility over time, while paid ads can generate immediate leads while you wait for organic rankings to grow. The two strategies complement each other well. We can help you determine the right mix based on your budget, timeline, and business goals.

Reputation Management

Reputation management is the ongoing process of monitoring, generating, and responding to online reviews across platforms like Google, Facebook, Yelp, and more. Research shows that 93 percent of consumers say online reviews impact their purchasing decisions. Our service keeps your business information consistent across 50-plus directories, alerts you to new reviews in real time, helps generate new reviews after transactions, promotes your top reviews on your website and social channels, and gives unhappy customers a direct path to contact you privately rather than posting publicly.

Online reviews are a significant local SEO ranking signal. Businesses with more reviews, higher ratings, and consistent directory information tend to rank better in local search results. For AI search, reviews and reputation signals also play a role — AI tools consider credibility and trustworthiness when generating recommendations. A strong review profile makes your business more likely to be cited by both Google and AI platforms.

Website Accessibility

Yes. We offer a two-step accessibility process: first, a comprehensive website accessibility test conducted by Subject Matter Experts who are real people living with disabilities and using assistive technology to navigate your site; then website remediation to address identified issues including HTML structure, image alt text, keyboard navigation, color contrast, video captioning, and more.

Approximately 16 percent of the world’s population experiences a significant disability, and an aging population means even more users face challenges with vision, hearing, or movement. An accessible website expands your potential customer base and ensures everyone can use your site. It also reduces your legal exposure — accessibility-related lawsuits against businesses with inaccessible websites have been increasing significantly in the United States, with courts increasingly ruling in favor of equal access.

Getting Started

Pricing varies based on the scope and complexity of your project. Custom websites require an upfront development investment priced based on your specific requirements. The best way to get accurate pricing is a free consultation — call us at 763-350-8762 and we will walk you through your options with no pressure and no obligation.
